My school has a systems-based curriculum and we've already covered a lot of the material that will be on Step 1 during the first year. Unfortunately, I crammed my way through and didn't end up retaining much. Can you guys suggest what would be the best way to relearn the material?

1) Should I go over class notes again or go straight to Step 1 review material?
2) What review materials are suitable for someone who didn't learn the content well the first time around?
3) Is it worth starting the relearning process when school starts in the fall? I feel like if I do that I'll still forget it again by the time Step1 rolls around. But if I put it off until the spring, I may not have enough time.

Also a rising 2nd year here. My school has a relatively different curriculum with first two terms of the 1st year being non system based (anatomy, micro, biochem) and 3rd term starts system.

From what I've noticed, going over class material again would be unproductive (at least for me) because there is a LOT of low yield material covered in class. Also, its taught in a way that may not be best for step review. I would suggest going to step 1 review materials (books, videos, etc.) to review the material you've learned. I've used DIT videos and would highly recommend it. It basically reads FA to you. It's a great way to get a first pass through FA.
