Best time to take Step 2 CK

Rising 3rd year here wondering what the best time to take step 2 ck is. I'll have my first chance to have dedicated study during July and was hoping to take it towards the end of the month. Will scores be released by the time I would apply to residencies in sept?

Should be.. granted, I'm a new third year too but I've also been trying to look into this recently so that I can time my UW 12-month subscription about right. People who did really well on Step 1 and don't need Step 2 for their residency applications take it in the winter time, people who want Step 2 to have a factor take it right around the time you're mentioning.. July, August, or so, from what I can tell.

Yeah, it more or less depends on what your situation is. If your score for Step 1 is good, there is some incentive to take Step 2CK a little later (though some still take it earlier anyway, just to have it done with).

August is generally the time you'll see a majority of people taking it. Your applications for residency can be sent in as soon as Sept 1, so people tend to adjust their schedules around that. The 12 month subscription to UWorld is worth it only if you know you're going to force yourself through it. Realistically, I probably could have just gotten a 6 month subscription and I'd be in the same place.
