Best time to take Step III

Was just wondering what people thought was the best time to take Step III? Can you take it between graduation and starting your internship or is better to wait until during/after your intern year? Thanks!

I want to take it ASAP, but you have to have your diploma in hand. I would think better to take it before burned out from interning.
