Hey all,

Just discovered this forum, and I have found it to be stress-inducing, but comforting to see so many suckers in the same position.

At the moment, I have just completed my BS ... now my plan is to make some money and get experience for the next two years, while applying to schools.

The simplified version of my problem is that I went to an interview and loved a physical therapy practice that needs an aide. Of course as soon as I get home, Johns Hopkins calls me about an interview for a two-year-long (perfect) research position concerning Tourette syndrome. The physical therapist needs an answer immediately. Do I take the PT job with loads of patient interaction (and an hour's less commute), or hold out for the research spot (that I might not get!) that'll probably lead to more money and a quality LOR.

Any opinion is appreciated, thanks.

Since you *loved* the physical therapy practice, i think you should go for it. The shorter commute is good and you can score an awesome rec if you do a good job. Plus, patient interaction/people skills are always good.

How much do you really want the research job? And what are your reasons for wanting it? You won't be making as much $$ as you think.... I love my school and all, but research tech salaries suck here... But whatever you do, if you want info on Hopkins/Baltimore, just PM me 🙂
