Hi,
How do you learn medicine for the first time with Step 2 in mind? I am IMG so I will not do the medicine shelf examination. Should I study the books for them anyways? Are they relevant for Step 2 also?

I already know about Step up to Medicine. Are there any other books to use? Remember that my medicine course is much longer and there is more time for self-study.

How much do you learn when you are in the hospital? Are there any resources that can substitute the factual knowledge that you gain there?

Should I use MKSAP or is it only for the shelf?

Thanks

I would say to prepare as if you were taking a shelf. Use MKSAP and do questions in books or online question banks to evaluate your fund of knowledge and your progress. I think the shelf exams are the incentive for most of us to learn medicine the right way, anyway. Good luck to you!

Any more suggestions?

Thanks
