Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if you guys know of shipping companies that will ship your car for a resonable price. I need to ship it from LA to pittsburg, but the places I have looked for so far are reallly expensive! Any suggestions for good shipping companies?

Thanks

What kind of rices have you found so far and what price range were you looking at?

Worst comes to worst you could always drive it cross country and make a trip of it.

Several Places have given quotes ranging from $3000 - 4000, is this the normal price range to have it shipped that far?

Thanks

Can get for $500. Go to ebay.com, look at the vehicle power sellers, and ask them what company they use. I used to ship engines across the country, and used to use New Penn.

3k is way too expensive. the average going rate for shipping cars from coast to coast is 800 for most cars and 1k for larger cars, like SUV's

I don't know how reliable this is or how to find this service, but I know when my grandmother wanted to give me her car, she lived in MO and I live in CA, so she was able to find a couple who were visiting from Australia that needed to get to CA , and so they drove the car out for her. I think she just paid for gas or something. It killed two birds with one stone, my grammy needed her car shipped, these people needed to get from point A to B, everyone wins. Isn't that the best story ever? Aren't I just so helpful? 🙄

If I go to Stanford, I'm planning a cross-country trip (NY to SF), with some friends. It'll be a great road trip, and I'll probably split the driving up. Visit friends in Illinois and Nebraska on the way there. Take a detour to Vegas maybe? Make a trip out of it if you want. I mean, right before med school is probably one of the best times in life to travel.

yeah I just surfed Amtrak's site so I'm not sure it was them... I'll have to ask my friend and get back to you. G'Luck with Stanford!

I shipped my car from West Virginia to Oregon and it only cost $1500. check some more places. The places quoting you ~3000 are trying to rip you off.

Thanks for input! Thats a relief! I thought I'd have to spend $3000 to ship my car. I will do some more research to find a reasonable price.

My brother needed to get from DC to LA and he found a guy who needed his truck driven to LA off of a website and that's how he came back home. Do you not want to do this because of the added miles?

Yeah pretty much. I just don't want to add the miles

My father is a freight forwarder (ships cars). His company's name is US International Shipping Corp. www.usshippingco.com . You can call 713-680-9400 or 1-800-231-0350. He'll give you a good price and I used to work at his office and his prices are competitive.
