best way to study for licensing exams?

Licensing for mental health or clinical counselor, that is. Online prep classes, self study? Would prep be any different if one has been out of the field for many years?

I'm thinking about more jumping through hoops, just to do the work I already did for so many years. Before I get arthritis and have to jump over the hoops with my walker, or through them, carefully.

I, too, would like advice on this topic. As a member of a Yahoo Group for MFT students, I read about the "horrors" of the California MFT licensing exam and all the products the students buy to study for it. I'm curious as to how much is really necessary and what specific books/test banks/classes people who have passed the exam would recommend. Thanks!
