Best way to study walking to school

  • Download the VLC app and listen to lectures on 1.5x speed
  • Login to Sketchy/Pathoma/B&B and make sure it downloads before you leave the house
  • Podcasts: The Undifferentiated Medical Student, Inside the Boards
  • Download the Osmosis app and you can watch videos on it, but I haven't found a way to speed them up
  • **Apparently Boards & Beyond is releasing an app that will allow you to listen to videos offline, hoping this comes out soon**
  • I have Firecracker on my phone but I find that it distracts me from looking up so I prefer audio
  • I recently got a "medical school crash course" on Audible (audiobook subscription) but have not listened yet so cannot speak to it.
  • Call your mom

For some reason Goljan never loads for me and I've been too lazy to figure out why. Can anyone speak to whether it is updated info? Also the sound quality isn't great when I do get it to work.

You can download goljan. As far as the diesease processes and phsiology. I doubt there have been breakthroughs that have changes in that. Treatment modalities should be taken with a grain of salt since those do change.

I have about a twenty to thirty minute walk to school each day that I would like to incorporate some form of studying. Are there any good free lecture series I can listen to or apps I can use on my phone?

Pray the Rosary. It takes about 20 mins, it calms the soul, allows you to reflect on the big picture, practice mindfulness and take a break from the grind

Practicing self-care: Priceless. Studies will always be there

Someone on the med school sub cleaned up the Goljan audio. He also made each lecture separate so you don't have to guess where a lecture ends/begins. The files are high fidelity, so they're pretty large.

Thanks 🙂

I have the same question, but for driving. Is Goljans the best audio only source? Can't do video, obviously.

What are good decks and settings for ANKI? I've never used it before. I've heard of Brosencephalon and zanki but don't know the difference/which is better.

Brosephalon and Zanki are just gigantic decks people have made for the Anki app. So if no one in your school has made subject specific decks, and you don't feel like making your own based on your classes, then Bros and Zanki are a good place to start. Haven't used either of them yet, so idk which is better...

Find a ride and use the extra 25 minutes to study at a desk? A 30 minute walk is a bit much and the brain's not great at multitasking.
