Hi! I am also a reapplicant. I really want to go to this school that I applied to last year. I was on hold and never got the interview. I live pretty close to the school and even thought about dropping off my secondary and say hi to the admission officers.. I don't know. Foolish of me.

Would it be to my advantage to mention that I am a reapplicant on the secondary that asks, "why xx school?" this school's sec. doesn't ask if I am a reapplicant like they had on their last year's sec.

and how does calling up schools work? do you say, "my name is XX.. I am so interested in going to this school..." wouldn't that annoy them?

would it be just best to write a letter to the dean of the school?

what should I do?

On your AMCAS application you will have checked off that you are re-applying to that school, so they will know that. The important thing for the secondary is to know why you are a good fit for that school and why that school is a good fit for you, and to be able to tell them these things.

I have heard of people setting up appointments with someone in admissions before the application cycle, but I don't know much about how they do it, why they do it, or if it gives them any advantage.

On every secondary I've filled out there was a section detailing whether or not you're a reapplicant; I think it's even on the primary as well. Anyways, as far as being proactive and just going down there to shake some trees I don't know. It depends on what hindered you from getting in last year. For me personally, I was rejected because the admissions committee didn't "perceive" my dedication for medicine. Hmmm,. I guess a 3.9 gpa and a 36 mcat with tons of hours of clinical, research, and volunteer experience didn't add to their "perception". Sorry, still ticked off.

So.. this year if I have to follow them to their cars I'll do it. Your situation may be different. I've heard of people doing stupid things like having their parents call the school or sendng in video tapes for personal statements. Hey, if you get in I guess it's not so stupid. My advice for you is try your best to make them remember you and want you as a candidate without appearing too overbearing. Write letters, knock on doors, make appointments, be a squeaky wheel. Good luck
