Beware of Loma Linda's Post-bac program. It's a complete scam used to generate revenue for their graduate school. $30,000 is a lot just to get a guaranteed interview. Unless you're a member of their church, you absolutely have NO SHOT of getting into their dental school through this program.

Some very large accusations, with no evidence to back it up. Most postbac programs cost a similar amount and don't guarantee you an interview anywhere.

Bitter much?!

EDIT: Many people every year get into LLU who are not SDA.

I wouldn't say "Many". I would say "some" or "a hand-full". Just sayin.

No one is guaranteed anything in dental school admissions. Hope you realize it's not just Loma Linda.

I am not Christian and I didn't apply to Texas Christian University etc. for undergrad, because I knew I wouldn't be their ideal candidate. Similarly, I wouldn't apply to Loma Linda because I am not their ideal candidate. I am also not a URM applicant and I won't be apply to HSB schools like Meharry or Howard either...again not out of antipathy towards those schools, but simply because I am NOT their ideal candidate.

They are private universities and are well within their rights to choose a majority student body that follows their religious teachings so please don't complain about this. In short, its great that Loma Linda takes 35% non SDA. Like the poster above me said, nothing guarantees you admission and LLU is no different in that regard. Apply ONLY to places where you will be their ideal candidate, applying elsewhere should not be something to count upon. This should really go without saying but I've now said it!

A guaranteed interview does not equal guaranteed admission.

I can understand the frustration if your heart was set on the school but it makes little sense to be anti-Loma Linda over this.

Of course, LLU takes a few non-SDA candidates every year but these candidates have exceptional scores but couldn't get into a state school. They went to LLU because its cheaper than USC, Western, and UOP. Could you imagine what LLU's average DAT and board scores would be if these students didn't go to LLU? LOL

Don't get upset with LLU for not getting a free in for going through their program. If you want to get upset, get upset at the fact that they charge about 2x what a post bacc program would cost at a public city college. The education will be no different, just that you will pay LLU 2x or more for going through classes. Save your money and look elsewhere. I got my post bacc done for almost free by attending a city college that had a program to retain minority students in college. This program was open to all students, not just minorities (I am not considered a minority).

I didn't apply to Loma Linda, and I definitely didn't go through their post-bac. This is quite the statement, though. It would probably be the easiest to support what you're saying if you post a source with numbers showing the low number of people accepted from their post-bac program (despite getting interviews), with an even lower number accepted that are from a different religion. I think that would really help to strengthen your argument you're trying to make. Otherwise, it just sounds like bitterness.👍

I've been to Loma Linda for a tour last month and a guy that goes there (our D3 student tour guide) told me this, word for word: "more the 70% of students here are not religious at all, they Just put that they are just so that they could get in. You do whatever it is you have to do to get an acceptance. That's what I did."

So there you go!

Lol I guess my rant about ideal candidate-ness has that caveat that we can always lie about some things. Pretty hard to lie about URM though so Howard and Meharry are safe!

Not only that the school is a scam but also i know a dentist that came out of loma linda commits fraud. I work at a dental lab that used to partner with a dentist from loma linda that used our service worth about 11k and never paid. She refuses to pay. She did that to multiple dental labs and then turned her office into incorporated or something to protect herself.
