Looking at some older threads, I saw claims of a bias against EM trained physicians in applications for both the Peds EM fellowship itself and Peds EM jobs.

Is there any truth to this? Is going the EM route pretty much blocking yourself out of places like CHOP or Texas Children's?

IIRC, one of our recent grads was well-received at CHOP, but told she would have to complete 3 years of fellowship (despite the requirement of only 2 years for EM grads for certification purposes and her pending completion of a 4-year EM program with enough EM exposure to have our own Peds EM fellowship).

...but yes, I have been hearing more and more about Peds EM programs favoring Peds grads...

I look forward to hearing more from folks on this board who are more knowledgeable about the subject (FWIW, I have not interest in Peds EM fellowships).
