Haven't found anything in the forums, so here goes..

Does anybody have the inside deal on the call schedule, overall brutality of calls, resident happiness, malign/benign, scut, friendliness of faculty etc.? Also, do residents take in-house calls throughout PGY2-4, or in PGY2 only?

Call is q4-5 during PGY2 year. Two months of call as a PGY3, plus a month of ICU coverage at Children's Hospital in Boston (which is brutal but worth it). 10 weeks of q2 beeper call as a PGY4...basically you are staffing all of the consults by phone with the in-house junior.

Call during the week is not brutal, as there is dedicated ED coverage until 10pm and then a nightfloat. Weekend call, especially Saturday, can be busy but last I heard, they were trying to arrange for additional coverage for that, as they are expanding number of residents.

I'm biased, since that's where I trained. Overall, I think faculty is friendly, approachable and scut is limited as the hospital's computer system and support staffing is second to none.

If I had it all to do over again, wouldn't change it for the world.🙂

I didn't train there but I would agree with the observation that the faculty seemed nice and approachable and the residents seem okay 🙂 If PD did not change from last year, he seems like a great PD to have. If you're considering it, I would say it's definitely worth applying to.
