So I've been fortunate to score interviews at all the big 4 NYC programs (Columbia, NYU, Cornell, Sinai). I will be ranking them as my top 4 but not really sure in what order I should put each of them. Was wondering if people could give their input / insight into some of these programs and what are some of the key differences between them. I value having good clinical training while also maintaining a good work-life balance.

Just speaking generally, you'll get a good clinical training most of the big academic spots because of the resources and big name that will attract educators. Not to sound too cynical but pick the program that is less work-horsey if you seek good work-life balance -- light call schedule is a bonus, light commute (when you're tired at the end of the day this matters). Does the program provide housing and where will you live? In NYC I would think would be a big deal.

I went to one of them and I can guarantee you it makes zero difference. All NY programs are too heavily psychodynamic and have insufficient medical/neurology/CBT training. This is a problem with psychiatry training as a while but it's particularly bad in NY.
