i got acceptances from SCO and OSU.

SCO has a great clinical program and really nice facilities. the area of memphis is alright. but i liked it overall

However, I loved the atmosphere at OSU. I come from a rather large university so OSU has similar environment: nice campus, close to downtown, football. it just has the college-type atmosphere. Also, it's a great school with a great reputation. the only thing i didn't like about it is they have relatively older facilities.

Also, the tuition there is much higher at OSU than any other schools. Even if i got in-state tuition after the first year, there would still be a huge difference than the 15K I'd be paying at SCO.

I've been back and forth with the two. any input or advice?

GO TO THE CHEAPEST SCHOOL. You will regret it four years from now if you don't.

I agree. Go where you'll spend less money.

i disagree with the go with the cheaper school comment. I'm from Canada and by going to school in the states I will pay atleast 40K more but for me its important that i go to a school that I can really going to enjoy. I figure i will be in big debt and be an OD either way so Im looking for a place I am going to love being at the for the next 4 years.

How important is debt to you? Do you come from a rich family that will pay all your expenses? Then yes go to OSU, because it has a fun atmosphere.

Otherwise, I see no reason why you want to pay 35k tuition/year compared to 15k/year. Unless you want to live off of welfare post-OD graduation and work 7 days a week at various fill in offices.

I know a few people that chose NOVA over SCO because NOVA is in Florida with the sunny weather. They will also be 40k more in debt than I would be. What I would do with that extra 40k...hmmm

Buy now pay later mentality is what will bite you in the end.

Hope you like Ramen and Easy Mac.

SCO is one of the top schools...I would definitely choose to go there in a heartbeat...and it's a lot cheaper...trust me, you don't want to be in more debt than you will be. The person's comment above is right on target.

I think for professional schools in general, for people that only want to be a clinician (not big researcher) go to cheapest. Besides you guys are gonna work for for pearl vision or walmart anyway. :meanie:

Welcome, troll. And to anyone who doesn't think corporate optometry causes an image problem, here's your proof.
