Hello all, I am in search of a good/effective billing company for a single provider pain practice (I am not in the position to have it in-house). Any recommendations from anyone? Thanks,

It’s worth figuring out how to get it in house.
It’s easy through your emr to submit claims
And should
Go through easy. You need in house to battle the claims that get denied or not paid for whatever reason. If you can do that on your own on a Friday, then you make it work without any billing. No one cares about your money more than you and second to that is someone who works for you.

Billing companies I have heard of:
Ce medical group
Asipp has a billing company they affiliate with

I APOLOGIZE IF YOU THOUGHT I WAS FREELY ADVERTISING BUT... metadr clearly asked for recommendations. If this was not allowed, I apologize.

Can you imagine what cluster this place would become if people started advertising on here? Contact one of the mods, maybe you can pay them to advertise the proper way.

As for the OP, I have my own practice and do my own billing. I know the system well and have worked with billers in the past. All have been awful experiences and a "good/effective billing company" is a unicorn. IOW, they don't exist.

Take the time to learn billing. You should do it yourself until you fully understand it. It's awful and the worst part of the job but an absolute necessity to master.

A billing company's business cannot survive if they go after every claim of yours. A company cannot pay overhead including an employee $15 or $20 dollars that will only net them $5 or $10. They'd go under. Sometimes it can take 30, 60 min, or more to go after a claim that reimburses you $100 or $150. The billing company is only collecting 5% or so. The math just doesn't add up for them.

That claim may take you an hour to do but you'll learn why it was denied and you won't make the same mistake again when submitting it.

I talked with Fedora billing company (recommended by ASIPP) which is really enticing but they're based out of India which concerns me. Does anyone have any experience with them?

If it’s ALL out of India forget about it. With regard to billing companies not going after all of your outstanding claims this is SO VERY true. My billing company will send 3 bills to pursue a patient balance but after that will not “waste” time and postage if the patient is not still actively treating.
