This question is specific to neuropsych testing codes.

Is there a specific point where using a 96118 is okay? When one is an intern? A fellow? Licensed? Board certified?

My reading of CMS guidelines suggests that you have to wait until someone is licensed before using that code. I am curious what other people have heard. I know it also may vary by state and insurance company.

I believe that you are correct, but I am far from an expert.

96118 - licensed psychologist
96119- Technician time (I believe all non-licensed people bill hours under this.)
96120 - Computer aided testing
