So I'm retaking this course bio 2(106 in my college) and on the first exam i got a 55.4. This is my second time taking this course. there are two more exams left each worth 20%. This exam was worth 20%. Should i drop out of this course? Lab is also worth 40%. The highest i can get in the course is a 91.08.

Gotta study harder mang. Can you get by with a B in the class?

As long as you can pull a B you should be okay, although Bio tends to be the easier prereq of all the ones required, how'd you do in Bio 1? How are you at chem?

Not sure if I agree on this. I got straight B in Bio 1 and 2 (got an A in Bio 2 lab, thanks God), and having straight A or at least A- in all Chemistry and Physics courses, including Quantum Mechanics. But again, I'm a Chem major...

I suppose thats deff possible, but given the consensus of most people I know, granted most are bio majors, bio tends to be the class people get A's in more often, I personally do well in both bio and chem, but struggle majorly with physics haha

Same here with the Physics! I don't know what it is with me and Physics. I'm determined to make an A in the course though.

Bio 2 is one of the hardest dental pre reqs at my school in my opinion. Way harder than both orgos/biochem1. Solely because of the lab and amount of memorization

Really ? I mean memorization is deff brutal for all of bio in general at my school, but bio majors are good at memorization it's what we do

It seems like you're still studying the way you studied the first time you took the course. Obviously that didn't work out for you, so you you need to figure out how to study correctly, not to be rude. See if you can find a study group, or ask a friend who took it for advice. Can't do the same thing and expect a different outcome.

Yeah our lab was brutalllll. Weekly quizzes with the same amount of material that would normally constitute a test. The lecture wasn't bad though.

How much did lab count toward your overall grade , at my school bio lecture and lab are combined to one grade , the lab is like 30 percent of your overall grade , and lecture is 70 , but like for orgo it's different and lecture and lab are separate grades

Ours works the same way for both chem and bio!

Don't drop! I remember for bio 1 i literally got 50s in my first 2 exams. i was about to give up but my brother pushed me. I got a C in the third exam then a B in the fourth one, and i kept my lab a B, and studied really hard for the final and ended up with a B in the class. and also, each exam weighed higher than the one before, so it was a lot of pressure
if you stay on top of your homework (like 100%) and try your very best in lab (even though quizzes were annoying), its very very doable
i realized my studying techniques were way different and off because i didnt know why i was failing 2 exams, so i had to change and once i did, i improved from my third exam onwards, and then i started Bio 2 really well because I knew how to start the semester.

sometimes you have to change your learning style, like from only one time notes, to actually relistening to lecture and rewriting notes/flashcards and all. try and review with a group when you know the material, so you can ask questions and even gain new things
But yea dont let that 55 put you down

Nice motivation! I despise physics lol, so glad it wasn't on the dat 🙂

Yep me too! I didn't do well on the 1st test at all. Good thing the professor drops a grade. Next test is coming up in a little over a week so I'm gearing up for it. How did you do in the class?
