Hi all,

Im pretty new to all of this and have just been studying with my own supplemental materials (Kaplan Blue book, Schaum's (Bio and Ochem), Various Mcat Books, etc.) and have a question regarding how in depth we have to know in terms of classification of the 5 kingdoms?? Ive been reading on here and people say to know the phylums of course, but do we have to know any thing more in depth, say like specific classes within the phylums? Im not sure if that is too in depth or not, and so I was wondering if anybody recently has taken the test and has a perspective on this????? I know there aren't a ton of question focused on this, but the ones that are on there I want to make sure I am prepared for so that I can get the best possible score. Thanks all! This site is amazing! Keep it up!

Those books you have should cover it. Remember, we are applying to dental school and they will focus much more on human anatomy, cell biolgy, and physiology. You are LIKELY to get some questions over plants, phylogeny, ecology, etc... but unlikely to get a lot. I actually didn't get but maybe one question over that stuff on my test, so I wouldn't worry too much. Sometimes the practice tests like Topscore focus too much on details and don't focus on concepts which is what is important. Focus on things that they would test you over in dental school. Also go to :

http://www.ada.org/prof/ed/testing/dat/dat_test_specifications.pdf

and look at the breakdown of each section. Spend an equivalent amount of time for how many questions there will be for each section. Bio is weighted the most heavily overall.

I thought AP Cliff's did an outstanding job on classification.

i'll 2nd cliffs as a resource in this regard. know forwards-andbackwards what is offered thru this source on biological diversity and you will be fine..

I just wanted to say thanks for those that responded. It was great to hear what you all had to say and has helped ease my mind in regards to that area. Now its just studying all the other human and plant bio stuff. Thanks again!
