Hi all,

I've been a bit confused about bio prerequisite. I am majoring in biochemistry and of course I have taken many biology classes like, molecular bio, microbio, genetics, etc. But I have not taken any general bio (100 level) or zoology because our school does not require to take those courses for biochem major.
So for satisfying their prerequisites, do I have to take general biology?

Thanks for all your inputs.

This is a good question, and one that I don't think many pre-dents could accurately answer. Your best bet is to contact the schools that you want to apply to, and ask them directly. They'll know better than any of us.

Did you get an answer on this? I am a Human Bio major and only had to take one lower-level bio course, so I am wondering the same thing! Thanks!

What are the names and course numbers of the bio classes you have taken?

My lower-level course was Zoology with a lab (100 level, 4 credits). Some of my upper-level courses in bio included: Mircobiology (300 level), Human Genetics (300 level), Nutritional Biochemistry (400 level), Metabolism (400 level), Anatomy and Physiology (300 level), Physiology (400 level) as part of a Human Biology undergraduate degree (with an emphasis in nutritional science). I also have an MS degree in nutrition and dietetics, which contained coursework in macronutrients, micronutrients, and advanced metabolic support.

I should add that I am planning to apply to medical school, not dental school. I just searched for my question in the forums and this one came up. While they are different, I just wanted to get some insight. I will likely contact some of the schools directly.

Thanks!
