Hi guys,

I took Biochem 1 last semester. I am planning on taking courses that will help me in pod school. Next semester, I am going to take cell bio, anatomy/phys 2, and immun.
I might take biochem 2, but will this class really help me in pod school?

upper level bio classes that I have taken:

genetics
microbio/lab
human phys/lab
evo. bio
biochem 1/lab

these are the classes I can remember from my head right now.

Biochem 1 in college covers the first month of biochem in pod school. At NYCPM that is 2 of 6 tests.

Any biochem will help you. You surely won't remember 100% of it a year later, but it's nice to at least have had exposure.

The only biochem that really won't be of use is some of the pure chem department stuff where you memorize hydrocarbon structures, map out valence electrons, etc.

Any biochem to do with proteins, enzymes, metabolism, nutrition, blood and physiologic chemistries, hormones, etc will definitely be applicable and pay dividends in your pod school coursework (esp biochem class, but also path, histo, pharm, and physio to some degree).

The rest of those courses you are planning on taking will also be a big help. Immunology is part of Micro in pod school. Obviously anatomy is huge, and cell bio is a course all it's own. The more pre-pod exposure you get to that material...the easier it will be when you start your pod coursework. Just as Feli/Krabmas stated.

Props on preparing for your future! 👍

I really want to do well in Pod school.
I have over 100 hours and could have graduated this semester. I chose to stay on the regular 4 yr plan so I can take more science courses that will benefit me in Pod school.

I really want to take patholgy and histology, but my university doesnt offer those courses.

Its a shame.
