Is such a class useful for the new MCAT or is it just lecture that's of most value? Is it a respectable class to deem an upper level course like any other upper level lecture course?

But yes it should be very helpful as many of the topics covered can show up on the new MCAT...amino acids...protein stuff...basic lab techniques such as SDS PAGE, size exclusion, affinity chromatography, ion exchange,....and thinking skills.
