Hey guys-

quick questions, i've been looking and don't see any schools (other than Temple) that require both a BioChem class and it's lab. Do you know any schools where the lab is a specific requirement? I'm finalizing my schedule for senior year, and am not sure if I need the lab as well. Thanks!

From Temple's website:

"A minimum of six semester hours is required in each of the following subjects: biology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics (all with laboratory experience), and English. Also, two letters of recommendation are required from Science Professors or Pre-Health Committee members along with complete official transcripts from undergraduate coursework. It is also recommended that applicants have exposure to advanced science courses, particularly biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, and histology"

Temple doesn't require biochem. It is only recommended.

UF requires 4 credits of biochem, so depending on how it is structured at your school (3 credits for lecture vs. 4), you would have to take both the lab and lecture. I have no idea how strict they are in enforcing that 4 credit rule though.

You're smart to take Biochemistry. I've seen it as a new required pre-requisite on more than one school website. And most schools recommend upper level division sciences anyway, so you're in a good position if you've taken it.
