So my school is offering a new molec bio / biochem course to prepare students for the 2015 Mcat without lab and the syllabus says it a for non science majors as well

However they still offer the individual classes in itself with lab My question is would taking that class satisfy the requirement of biochemistry 1 semester course for med schools ?
The course title says mobio/biochem
But some are saying because it's split it doesn't count as full semester

The class is called molecular principles of biochemistry

My intuition: Yes it probably counts.
Do I know for sure: No.
How can you be sure: Email the school in question and ask them if it'll count.
General Advice: Take the least number of labs required to graduate at your university.

Thanks but why take least amount of labs?

It's prob easier to get an A and will free up my schedule a lot

I don't know about you, but at my school, labs take up a HUGE chunk of your schedule.

It does
I'm just hoping that not taking the mobio or biochem UD classes would affect me
I have a big upward trend and want to maintain that before I apply

*would not
Lol

For future reference, you can use the edit function lol.

Yes, if it's biochemistry in a science department, it should count. How is AMCAS going to know how legitimate the course is? You can call med schools if you want to make sure.

The only thing people say is that since mobio and biochem it s not a full semester? And my school offers a separate biochem with lab course

Labs are tedious, you learn nothing you wouldn't otherwise learn doing actual research, the quality of your experience is almost entirely dependent on a TA you cannot choose without somehow brown-nosing in the department, they usually take up 3-4 hours of class time, the reports are extremely time consuming and long and teach you nothing about writing a good science paper/publishable science, the grades (at least at my school) are completely TA dependent and it's usually everyone get's an A or most people get Cs and 1/2 get A's. The list goes on and on. Labs are the worst part of going to college and I have much more important things to do with my time.
