This may or may not be a suitable question in a pre-medical forum but I'm currently a pre-med so yeah.

I'm nearing the end of my freshman year at UCLA and have yet to settle on a major I want to pursue. I'm thinking about biochemistry or chemistry with a concentration on materials science. Which major is more open to job opportunities once I graduate with a 3.5+ GPA? In addition, what are the job descriptions?

I know major is unimportant for medical school applications but I'm thinking in terms of a "maybe I choose not to apply for medical school before I graduate" way of life. Your help would be much appreciated.

Materials science would be a good way to go if you want to graduate college and then work in industry and make money. Biochemistry would be the way to go if you want to go to medical school. Unfortunately having a biochemistry undergraduate degree is kind of useless unless you get additional education. If I were you I would sick with Biochemistry and go the medicine route.
