Hi guys,
I am a medical student in postcommunist country and I really like to read a (auto)biography books of successful Czech physicians. The thing is that they had quite a hard times during the communists times, almost no contanct with recent medicine in western countries, poor working conditions, very low wages, not enough staff etc. I am looking for some biography book of successful doctors from UK or USA to see how did the things go for them. Do you have any recommendation?

I am not sure whether I post this to the right forum, but I couldn't find better fit.

Michael Bliss is an other I'd suggest. He's a modern biographer who has written books on Osler and Cushing
