I am really interested in bioinformatics research, and I am considering taking some grad-level bioinformatics courses in my senior year. How are the research opportunities for this for med students?

Probably going to be dependant on the medical school program. You could definitely research which programs are more known for this area of research (like Michigan) and then bring it up in interviews or if they have a 'why us' secondary prompt.
