hi, i took biological psychology and human dysfunctions, both under the psych department at my undergrad institution. in my opinion, the content had a very strong emphasis in the biological sciences delving deep into topics in physiology and anatomy. in fact, theses courses can be used to fullfill my molecular and cell biolgy major requirements for science electives. can i classify them as "biology/zoology" in my aacomas, or will they have to be relegated to "non-science" since the directions in aacomas indicate that psychology= "non-scinece". am i allowed to make the subjective call here, or are the aacomas departmental guidelines non-negotiable? dont forget to consider that these classes are accepted substitutes for my MCB major science requirements. thanks for your help!

My biological Psychology class felt like an anatomy/bio class.

I don't know. I'd like to find out tho. I'm still at least 2 years from applying.

mine wasn't classified as science, but I didn't try to get it classified as such either.

I listed mine as non-science since it was offered through the psych dept.

i don't know why people have this misconception, but psychology is in fact a science

i guess my question is (since i am more inclined to classify it as biolgy to raise my science gpa) will there by any negative reprecussions if i do classify it as biology... ie application gets thrown out or delayed etc etc. i was under the impression that they will just change it for me automatically if they dont agree with what i did. is that totally off the mark?

My psyc stats was not accepted - interesting because my bio department encourages their students to take it from the psyc department rather than the math department. I had a friend place biopsyc under science and it was moved for her - causing a delay, of course (AMCAS, though).

Good luck.

I was basically a psych major and agree that it is a science, I guess I should've been more specific and said that since it was offered by the psych dept I listed it as a psychology course, not a biology course.
