I was recently accepted into the Biomedical Sciences program at Barry University. I would do the program to boost my GPA, which is a 3.29 cumulative. Any feedback (most of the threads are slightly dated), pros/cons appreciated! Also if you have any input as to the matriculation rate of graduates into MD/DO schools.

I've never done it, but it mostly has cons
First, it wouldn't touch you 3.29 gpa (which isn't bad for DO)
It isn't a true SMP, just a masters, therefore you aren't taking classes with med students, just other master students
A graduate gpa doesn't fix an undergraduate gpa- only post baccalaureate programs or grade replacement can
It doesn't make up for MCAT- only a good MCAT can make up for a good MCAT not a grad program

They say they've put people in Harvard, or something, I'm willing to be that was 1 out of how many. I'm not saying this with intention of knocking the school. I was accepted as well and through this board learned the difference of an SMP vs a masters program and realized I was chasing lightening and didn't need the loans for something that would have a pay out

Check the postbac forum for more information: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forums/postbaccalaureate-programs.71/

The reviews are mostly negative- it is viewed as an overpriced non smp masters that is of limited utility for premed students. You are better served by taking a year's worth of upper divisional undergraduate science coursework than spending $ on this program. If you want to do a masters, do a cheaper program at your state school.
