My school requires Biostatistics. Will med schools look at this as a statistics course or should I also take regular stats?

If it's offered through the bio department, you'll likely have to list it as a biology class not as math, but there's no osteopathic school that requires math.

It is offered through the bio department. Like you said, they don't require math. Would biostats maybe be a bonus then?

Several schools require math/statistics.

Touro, UMDNJ, and TCOM are all listed in the CIB as requiring math/statistics.

I think the course title is more important than the department. I had a course in the Theology department that counted towards the English requirement.

Wow. It must be a new requirement. I don't recall them having it in 2012, but I could have just been wrong all along.

Looks like I'm 0 for 2. Good to learn something new though.

I took biostats. It was part of the statistics requirement and counted towards my sGPA because it was MATH credit in the BMCP. Thats what I listed it as in my AMCAS and AACOMAS and my transcript was verified.

It is also true that more and more schools are now requiring some sort of statistics, especially since all medical schools require you to look and analyze various medical studies/research, and many teach classes in epidemiology/evidence based medicine. I applied to TCOM and they require it, which is why students enrolled in the Med Sci program take it during the summer

What would a Statistics class called Elementary Statistics count as ?

My first inclination is to be horribly sarcastic, but I'll be nice since I can't tell if you are trolling.

It's still math.

Calculus, Algebra, Trig and other courses are also not listed in the list because they are obviously math courses.

It's called problem solving and critical thinking kids.
