On vacation and got to see Gracie the trumpeter I used to work with. Her partner Chuck was shot and killed not that long ago. And on a different refuge one of her cignets (after they were grown they moved) was also shot and killed. I hate people sometimes.

She was hanging out right by someone's door. I also saw a river otter out on the frozen lake enjoying a delectable catfish. And got to see some of the rehab raptors I used to do presentations with. Aquila the blind golden eagle will always be my favorite :biglove:
Wherever this place is sounds awesome!

Babehs were either hungry af and mom had food in mouth ready for delivery. OR they thought they were better than me. :yeahright:
(It's the former lol. Parental was making frequent food deliveries (probably grubs, the real OG GrubHub) and was staging on a power line.)

Very cute and cool to observe, but it made entering or leaving the house an exercise in not getting dive bombed and yelled at by their parents. (Well maybe don't make your house in our house!)

Well thank you I love them

One of my friends just started her poultry residency at UGA!
She’s probably at the vet school. I’m in my own little world on main campus in the PS building. For another 6 days

I just had "the gull talk" with the people I was camping with this weekend when they asked why there were sea gulls at the mountain lake we were at.

I actually got some good bird watching in - lots of double crested cormorants, robins (I love robins), mountain bluebirds, various woodpeckers (especially northern flickers), steller's jays, finches (lots of brown-capped rosy finches - found primarily in CO!) and juncos, some gorgeous broad-tailed hummingbirds, crows, chickadees, red-winged blackbirds, and of course an assortment of warblers and sparrows
