So I was accepted to medical school on my 2nd try. Why am I bitter then you may ask. I am bitter because I was not accepted on my first try. On my first try I was not even given an interview invite to my state school despite having: numbers above its average, volunteering, shadowing, research.

Im also bitter because my state school is a piece of **** and rapes you out the ass for tuition so its barely even worth going to over a private school.

Another thing that annoys me is these ****ers in my class that think they are hot **** that got in on their first try. They got in just because they were lucky. I have a better CV than the majority of my classmates, but I had less success in applying to medical school. Yeah that makes sense.

Its also annoying when dip****s that had to take the MCAT twice, still did worse than me, have worse GPA and still have egos the size of the sears tower. They were very fortunate to get in at all with such a poor application.

It also is ectremely insulting when people always assume that I did bad on the MCAT when they find out I had to reapply. Not everyone with a decent app gets in idiots. Just because you ****ed up the MCAT doesnt mean I did.

One more thing that pisses me off is that it seems like every ****ing minority in my class has a scholarship just because of the color of their skin. Some werent even raised in the states and dont relate to the minority ethnic culture of the USA even. They have aspirations of going into surgical subspecialties or derm. So dont give me that incentive to practice in undrserved areas primary care bull****. Who knows maybe they did lie and bull**** their way into a scholarship via faking a desire for primary care.

Really Im pretty much disgusted with medical school and everything related to it. I probably should have just gone to law or dental school or pharm school or really anything else that pays decently with much less bull****. Oh well I guess I cant now because I am burried in debt.

You're going to be a totally awesome doctor dude!

P.S. When did you apply

I bet you wrote a killer PS and smoked the interviews with sentiments like that!

Woa dude, chillout. First off, I'm sorry that you didn't get in your first time, and yes the application system doesn't treat everyone fairly.

However, the worst thing you can do is live your life through the eyes of others. If you endlessly compare yourself to your friends you're bound to come up short sometimes. Being rejected from medical school is by no means a good reason for people to judge your character or abilities; it merely hints at how little they know about the process.

In terms of minority students receiving grants and scholarships, yes, there are many students who are given preference because of their racial background, but it is highly likely that each of those students received a starkly different upbringing from what you and I experienced; especially if they were raised in an urban community. I teach high school chemistry in Los Angeles, and I would be absolutely overjoyed if my kids would attend, let alone graduate, from college. Now, if your classmates are not from that kind of background, and are merely riding the bandwagon of minority grants, then that is an injustice.

To have been a fly on the wall at your interview...🙄

Long story short...life sucks; get used to it. Be grateful you got into medical school in the first place.

There are so many more qualified candidates than available slots a lot of great applicants get rejected. This only becomes worse further along your career. A portion of less-qualified applicants succeed, because of connections or chance or other things. This is the same in medicine or any competitive field.

Anytime you see people you think are less qualified with more success, you get pissed off. Granted, most people don't write bizarre rants as a coping mechanism, but different strokes for different folks I guess. If it helps, just remember the unfair or unearned advantages you've had.

Well, you have one thing to look forward to....making them look like idiots when questions are asked by the professors/attendings/etc during rotations..

also, with your qualifications, you should shine in your class, securing your residency 😀

You're right. The best thing to do is to quit now while you're still ahead.

sometimes.. you just need to vent a little..

welcome to the hardships of life. Grab a helmet. you'll need it.
