I did a month of APPE at Coram in 2009. They were recently acquired by CVS, so there's that. My location was an office setting in a warehouse with a clean room. It involves a lot of phone calls to patients to see what supplies they need in addition to their medications. If you have any specific questions, PM me and I'll try to help. I am currently a home infusion pharmacist. I enjoy the job. Clinical stuff is pretty much limited to TPN management and PK dosing. There are a lot of phone calls to MDs to coordinate care (annoying since unlike the hospital the MDs are not always there to provide care) and pts since it is a closed door pharmacy. Mondays are slow and Fridays are super busy with all the hospital d/c's coming home. Oncall will depend on size of branch as you will rotate with the other pharmacists. I've done hospital before and really a job is a job, just different BS. You are much closer to your pts and I find myself taking home my work much more than at the hospital. I like that kind of ownership; however, sometimes I miss being able to just stop thinking about work once done with shift. I do enjoy the relationships I've built with MDs and pts. You will get to know some MDs/Nurses quite well since you will be calling all the time and the business is definitely relationship based (hospitals and docs will refer pts to infusion companies they trust and that do things the way they like). Job is M-F 9-5 but don't expect to leave at 5, you leave when the work is done. Salary is competitive with hosp, was actually paid a little more. Specific questions let me know.
