Blood banking

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I guess because historically pathology has been in charge of the blood bank.

Not much that is done in the blood bank has much in common with the much more clinically oriented specialty of heme/onc. The blood bank is much more like the other hospital labs (ie. chemistry). I would imagine most heme/onc docs thank the stars they do not run the blood bank.

Pathology, at my program at least, also runs the hematology and coagulation labs as well. Our hematopath docs run this area.
