Hey everyone, i was thinking about taking BCIDP in addition to BCPS but i m hesitating to do so bec now, i ve to do 120 credits for BCPS in addition to another 120 credits for the BCIDP?? Is there a way around it? Like are there credits that can be in common and given to both? Thanks for your help!!!

Thx for the reply but i m just wondering would it be majority of CEs? Like if i do extra 20 its better than extra 120 hah

Some CE can overlap, good thing that the maintenance fee is a flat rate if you have more than one certification.

Is there a way around it?

A way around it is to not do CE credits and just take the recertification exam. If you're actively practicing ID and keeping your skills fresh, then that might be easiest.

As for the CE credit route, I can't find any info from BPS about what organization is a "recertification course approved provider" and how many CE credits may overlap with another specialty ("dual recertification credit"). BPS posted the 2018 recertification guide in May 2018, so maybe the 2019 guide will be out in May 2019. Based off the model set with other specialties, the BPS may allow overlap of 42 hours. They can be earned at any time during the 7 year cycle (previously it was capped at 6 hours per calendar year). And since ASHP offers an Infectious Disease Prep Course, I think they will also offer a recertification course.

(I'm trying to post links to the above info, but I'm not allowed since my account is too new!)
