Outside of addiction and obesity med, what board certifications don’t require residency/fellowship?

Asking in general & also curious about sleep med - I’d want a source to verify if fellowship is required

I'll add these (2) to your list:

Lifestyle medicine (need to be boarded in primary specialty prior)

Electrodiagnostic medicine (however, you need to be boarded in PM&R or neurology first)

Not sure where you are getting information that any of these don't require residency/fellowship. They all require primary specialty certification, which requires residency and/or fellowship:

Addiction medicine: Addiction Medicine – American Board of Preventive Medicine

Obesity medicine: CME Pathway Details - American Board of Obesity Medicine

Lifestyle medicine "To certify as a Lifestyle Medicine Physician you must be primary board certified by an ABMS or AOA approved board for US based physicians; for Canadians you must be licensed to practice as a physician."

You should plan to complete a residency in SOMETHING following medical school in order to be allowed to practice medicine.

I think (I hope) what was meant was subspecialties you can pursue and get board certified for without a required fellowship to sit for an examination.

@GoSpursGo is absolutely right. You need a residency in something following medical school to practice medicine.

The practice pathway for Addiction medicine is closing soon, and a fellowship will be required then

All of the other specialties mentioned are NOT under the American Board of Medical Specialties. There will always be rogue boards popping up that do not require a fellowship; but as GoSpursGo mentions primary specialty certification is typically required

I should clarify that I meant a residency/fellowship in that specific specialty. I'm talking from the future perspective of someone who's finished at least a residency but not one specific to that field. Especially wondering this of sleep med (which ik is a fellowship but wondering if that fellowship is needed)

Yes, according to the ABIM website. Unsure why you are asking something that is easy to look up.
