Historically, you need to make an A (90+) on NDBE part 1 to be competitive for ortho. Also you need to be in the top 10% of your class. However if you know someone on the admissions committee, then you can pretty much have any score or rank that you want.
 
In my opinion you need higher than a 90, like 92+. Also knowing someone on the admissions committee won't get you anywhere, at least at legit schools that you would actually want to go to. You would also need to have either leadership and/or research.
