I looked on the ADA website and couldn't find my question... Does anyone know if you have to pass each section with a 75% or just the overall exam with a 75%?

There's only one huge section now, it's no longer split into 4. So you have to pass with a score of 75. Percentage-wise, this is around 50-60%.

In the old format, you did have to pass each section with at least a 75 in order to pass the whole test.

Passing is easy, so dont worry about what you need to pass...the hard part is getting 90+.

I think Gavin said something like this in the past...and after taking the boards, I agree...the best way to study for that test is to pay attention during first year. That builds your foundation for when you start your cram session for the boards.

I still don't understand why more schools don't have their students take part 1 after 1st year? It's more logical to cram all the courses in D1 and take the exam when fresh, then to spread out the courses over 2 years.

Just my opinion.. jb!🙂

says the guy who just got into a school that gives part 1 after the first year... 😎

I've been hearing that they only fail the bottom 2% of those that take the exam. Any truth to this or is it just another unfounded dental school rumor?
