Got the results of our first test this week and found out I failed my anatomy practical. It is the first test and is worth 18% of the final grade. I also bombed the embriology portion of the written test. The new embriology professor is cool to talk to and seems like a nice fellow, but the questions on the test sure werent nice. Most of my classmates call him the friendly f**ker.
Anyways the first test is done and over with, now comes the next test... which is in a little more than a week. :scared:

Frankly, you have to suck it up and learn what you did wrong. It may sounds harsh, but you don't have time to wallow in self pity if your next test is in a week. Find a tutor if you have to. Just remember that you aren't alone in taking anatomy, and you certainly aren't the first person to bomb his first round of exams in medical school. I got a 50% on my first histology practical during first year. See what you did wrong and change your studying habits. I'm sure you'll figure out a method that works for you, so even though you may only scrape by in anatomy, when spring comes around, you'll know how to kick neuro and physio in the butt.

Hey Dr Who...sorry to hear that. I have my first anatomy & embryology test Monday, I should be studying right now 🙄 ...I'm afraid I may be posting something similar soon, although I hope not. I feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of info, and since I'm new at this I'm not sure if I'm approaching the material the right way or understanding/retaining enough. I guess I won't know until I get through this test. Anyway, look into the resources for tutoring and the like at your school, they don't want you to fail out and most seem to have a lot of resources available for students who are having difficulty to figure out the most effective way for you to study, manage your time, etc. I'm sure you can figure out what went wrong and pull it together for the next test, bombing your first test doesn't mean you can't still do well in med school and more importantly as a doctor. I was really freaked out about this first test, I honestly was thinking about it as if doing poorly would signify I didn't belong in med school. I feel a little better now because I realized that was stupid, it's just one test, and if I don't do well I just need to treat it as a learning experience and improve. Obviously I'm still a bit worried about it, but realizing that did help me relax a bit. Good luck to you. :luck:
