Hi,
Does anyone know about a good book about the match? What the process is like, how to prepare for interviews etc?

Read somewhere that they will take away the opportunity to prematch this year (i.e. if you want to start residency in 2012), is that true?

FA for the Match is decent. Please avoid Iserson's book like the plague. It is total crap.

As for the pre-match, you can read the changes yourself here. Short story shorter...prematch will be eliminated for the 2013 match, not this coming years match. So there's one more year for pre-matching.

Ultimate Guide to Choosing a Medical Specialty by Brian Freeman is the best book not only for understanding the match but also in terms of preparing your strategy to match in your chosen specialty.

I´ve read Iserson´s book. Seemed decent to me but maybe not really up to date. Not too much info. on how to write a personal statement and how to prepare for the interviews.

Pity they haven´t stopped the pre-match yet. Weirded system ever, it´s like playing poker and your future career is at steak.

Thanks, I´ll buy it right away.

Any other people with suggestions on good books?

I found FA for the match to be kinda weak. The Successful Match (Katta) and The Residency Interview (Freedman) are both good, helpful books.

Just read the LOR section so far, but I'm enjoying The Successful Match by Katta.👍

I think I've heard of that one.

Thanks guys, the books are great. Let's brainstorm more.

Roadmap to a Successful Match: A Resident's Perspective by Dallas Wright, D.O. is a MUST read. Especially if interested in EM.
