Can you use your book fund to help pay for a laptop? Anyone ever try this or have done this? I will have a significant book fund next year and was wondering if this was a possibility.

when i interviewed at various pathology programs, i was told the "book fund" could be used towards most any legit educational expense, including books, conferences/meetings, review courses, and computers.

I would imagine how the book fund is used is program specific. Call one of your brother/sister residents and ask. I would leave the PDs alone at least until Monday.

Very program specific.

Some programs allow you to use it for anything educational. Some limit it to what can be purchased at the university bookstore.

If your book fund is so generous that it makes any dent in the purchase of a laptop, consider yourself lucky.
