This was talked about in another thread, but I didn't want it to get buried. I wanted to dice up my Tintinalli into travel friendly volumes.
What is the best place to get it done? Staples? Kinkos? A professional book binder?
Any type of binding better than others? Any special instructions?
Also, how many volumes have you separated your book into? Cost?

Thanks

I tried to do that for a book once upon a time for a Kaplan review book. They wouldn't copy it because it was a copyright violation. Keep it in mind. I might suggest baby Tintinalli that is much easier to carry. I just bought it. Looks sweet.

You're NOT copying anything. You are just handing them your tintinalli's and tell them to remove the binding and rebind it for you by three hole punching it. kinkos is da man.

I chopped mine into 5 small books, bound with a plastic spine. I ended up taking it to a friend of mine who does book binding because Kinko's and Office Depot freaked out when I told them I wanted them to cut the binding off and divide it up. Shouldn't cost more than $20 if you can find someone to hack it up for you...

OOOhhhhhh, sorry I misunderstood. I thought you wanted to copy the whole darn thing and bind that in small chunks. Destroying the book never occurred to me (just not my style). Interesting though. I prefer to burn things but tearing off binding also works to release tension. 😀

I'm off to set some fires!

I took mine to kinkos and had them cut it up and bind it.

Roja,
How many separate copies? Is it still in good shape.

Doc Brown-

I put it into 7 seperate books. I went with a non-spiral binding which I wouldn't recommend as much. I would do a spiral. Yes its in pretty good shape (and no it has nothing to do wihth the fact that I hate reading tintinalli. ) I carted it around quite a bit.

You probably can't take it off road biking but it did work out nicely.

I just did it into 10 different bindings of 200 pages each. Its not too thick, not too thin, I wouldnt' mind carrying it into barnes and noble. Went to kinkos and cost me 40 bucks though, like 4 bucks per book is what he said. So if you can tolerate a bit thicker you could get it for 20 or 30. Before I went in I was gonna do 100'es then he said for each binding it is 4 dollars, doesnt' matter how many I do haha, so went to the 200 pages.

I used Kinkos and broke it into 5 spiral bound volumes with a clear plastic cover and a black plastic back. Kinkos made a boo-boo so they gave the whole thing to me for free.

The boo-boo was that about 10 pages were out of alignment during hole punching so the bottom of the pages sticks out a wee bit from the rest. Everything else was perfect.

I like it and get more read this way.

Take care,
Jeff
