hey guys. due to scheduling, i won't have my peds or ob/gyn cores done by the time i'm taking ck. can anyone recommend books that will give me a solid foundation for those cores w/out actually rotating thru them? i've viewed the kaplan videos and blueprints for ob/gyn and they were great. any others that i should go thru?

for peds, i'm totally lost on what to do. i didn't like the kaplan videos... and i felt blueprints was just all over the place and too superficial.

any suggestions?

thanks!:xf:

From my experience, blueprints for peds got me a great score on the shelf exam along with doing a few questions. Similarly, Blueprints OB/GYN was a really good resource if you pair it with some questions. Those 2 are probably the best 2 blueprints texts IMHO.

hey AFDuck

thanks for the response. did you read any textbooks during your rotations or were the blueprints all you used? also, i'm assuming that using these books helped with studying for ck?

For Peds I scored in upper 80s on the shelf with primarily just blueprints + some pretest ?s (no time for textbooks). For step 2 ck I haven't gone back to it because I feel I know the stuff pretty well and am sticking with UW with crush. For OB/GYN, again I scored around 80-something with just blueprints and pretest ?s. I have gone back to parts of that one for certain topics because it has been about a year since I had that rotation. If you take the time to read and know those two blueprints well and go through the ?s in UW I think you'll be fine for those topics on step 2 ck. Again, disclaimer, all just my opinion and since I did rotate on both peds&ob maybe I picked up things on service that weren't in the books. Hard to say for sure, but good luck!
