I'm about to start third year in about 2 weeks, and my first rotation is psych. I want to get everything I need before I start, so I am ready from day 1, but there are so many different books I don't know which ones to get.

FA Wards vs. FA Step 2? Pre-Test? Blueprints? A&L? BRS?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

If you are a big fan of the First Aid series I would try a combination of ~ 4 books for each rotation:

FA CK --
goes over the basics and most pertinent information
keep this book handy and refer to it when you need to
highlight and take a few notes during the year and you will be a step ahead when you start to review for Step 2 <--- that is the real benefit of using this

FA Wards --
decent resource with good basic overview like FA CK
Best way to use this book?:
quickly run through the appropriate section about 4 or 5 times in the first few days of each clerkship and you will get a solid foundation and overview that will help you get the most out of the remaining time on the rotation

FA for each clerkship --
use this for memorization of all the facts during each core rotation

Case Files or Blueprints Cases --
great to synthesize what you are learning and get you thinking clinically

Pre-Test --
a decent review and source for multiple choice questions.
(can be hit or miss on some rotations)
