Can anyone give me websites where I can download books in pdf format
completely free of charge? I am referring to books like novels and short stories.

Thanks in advance🙂

Depends on what types of books. If you're looking for classics and such, the Guttenberg project would be the place to look, although they don't have PDF. If you're looking for more modern books, you are likely out of luck. There are costs to buy those files, and those usually come in ePub files. Sorry I can't help more, but that's all I can think of. Can't think of a place with PDF files. If it is a classic, you'd be better off looking it up on Google, like "Sherlock Holmes PDF."

There are plenty of websites to download PDF/audio files of new books. However, asking for links to illegal material on a board devoted to a professional degree probably isn't the best idea. I'll cross my fingers and hope you start putting a little thought into things before you start college.

😕 what? No one is asking for links to illegal material. Do you mean illegal links to material? No one is asking for that either.

It's hard to answer your question without knowing which kinds of books you're asking for, but Google Books has excellent scans of classic books that are fully text searchable and download in pdf.

OPs post sounded like they wanted links to copyrighted material, which isn't legally up for grabs. If they meant stuff like project gutenberg, then I apologize. I don't think that is the case though.

Quick question: did you feel the need to register just so you could answer this question?

Never judge a book by its cover. Go through the website, you are not gonna become disappointed.

I'm not judging it, you just asked why someone would dismiss it as bogus and I offered a plausible reason.

Can't help but feel like I missed something here..

Just because I ask for a website where I can download books free of charge does not not mean I will not conduct my own search to find out what is illegal or not! Besides, what on Earth has my actions or questions, which you have little information about the motives behind them have anything to do about college??? ( no hard feelings, just explaining myself and expressing my curiosity🙂 )

If I'm not mistaken, don't the tablets and eBook readers often offer free downloads of older, popular novels?

Well, if you were looking for copyrighted material then I was just saying that a board dedicated to a professional discipline might not be the best place to post. That aside, my posts aren't exactly up to snuff either, so go ahead and do whatever floats your boat. Yay internet!
