Hehee, the Oxford Handbook is a tiny little compact encyclopedia of all the major medical conditions you're likely to see in regular clinical practice. It goes through the disease, labs and workups, treatments, etc. (Basically like a mini-Emedicine in your pocket!) It's pretty much ubiquitious in hospitals, both among ward students and junior doctors - now, there's a whole series of them!
Kev is obviously not in clinical years yet 🙂. The oxford handbooks can be in PDA format too, which is really handy. If you have a PDA . That way you won't have a bazillion bulges from your pockets.
Actually I am a clinical student and I am quite aware of WHAT they are! I want W4G to tell me what they are as in: is it the Oxford Handbook of Surgery, Anaesthesia, Haematology etc! There are over 20 Oxford Hanbooks available.
I use my PDA Oxford Handbook of Clinical medicine daily (well almost)! In the UK it is the medical students bible. 😉
