There are three distinct cohorts in our field: Boomers, Gen-X, and Millenials. What do you see as the distinguishing characteristics of each cohort:
Boomers: These guys were the pioneers or the direct heirs of the pioneers of pain medicine. They established the field, started or accelerated its infrastructure, codified its norms. They were handsomely rewarded for their work and the risks they took.
Gen-X: Learned at the feet of the Boomers. The last cohort to really know private practice medicine and have the chutzpah to start out on their own. Internalized their ethics and emulated their tactics. Unfortunately, sociopolitical forces (the Obama years) may have hindered the impact that their cohort could make.
Millenials: ???
