Hey everyone I'm planning to retake the DAT and was looking at study layouts. So my question is has anyone on here used Ari's 10 week guide? If so, could you just give some feedback on how it worked out for you please. Thanks!

Hi there,

I started off with Ari's 10 week guide, however, I strayed off about 3 weeks in and used my own method to study for the exam.

You have to keep in mind that every person has his or her own strategy of studying. Personally, I did not retain much information using Ari's strategy that was successful for him. I found that I made much more progress by taking as many practice exams as I could, and then reviewing each question (right or wrong) individually to learn the material.

If you don't have any idea of where to start, I would suggest you try his 10-week guide for a few weeks. See for yourself what parts of it is successful for you, and then modify it accordingly to fit your own preferences.

Good luck, studying for the exam is a real challenge! It is very rewarding when you ace the exam though 🙂 .

I used it except modified it a bit (stretched it out longer than 10 weeks) because I was moving too slow through the material.

I thought it was good and incorporated the good resources.

I'd take a look at it and try to see if you think it will gel with your learning style

Too slow. Especially in the first couple of weeks. 10 weeks is too long. Plan to knock it out in 4 weeks and extend it to 6 if you need it. Should be plenty of time if you are a science major.

I used all the materials in the same order but not so much the day by day study guide. I was studying over a semester so I spread it out too. For materials like the destroyer I used the pomodoro timer technique bc it was hard for me to stay focused for a set number of problems in the destroyer. Take whatever amount of time you think will fit your study style best

I only used DAT Bootcamp materials to study for my DAT last year, and I mainly just did intensive studying for about 6 days before my exam since I was taking it over my spring break. Obviously, most people aren't going to be in that boat, but I would recommend taking practice exams towards the beginning of your study almost as like a diagnostic. I was able to see which areas I needed to devote more attention to and was able to make a personalized study plan based off of that. Then, I ended my studying by taking practice tests again to make sure my scores were where I wanted them before the exam. For my actual DAT, I did score a point or two higher in each section than with Bootcamp and I was very happy with my scores. I think Bootcamp is one of the best values out there for DAT study materials and you can really customize it and make your own study plan!!
