If a= log2(72) and b=log2(3), which of the following is equal to a - 2b?

I understand the bootcamp explanation for how to solve this problem but I don't understand why it can't be 72/9=8?

Because of the log identity log (A/B)=log(A)-log(B)
The answer is 3 by the way.
