Hey,

I'm going to be in Boston for the summer. I just finished my freshman year in college... does anybody know of any good hospitals where I can volunteer or places where I can get good clinical experience thru doctor shadowing. I pretty much wanna do something that would cement my desire to become a doctor.

Thanks

Try MGH, Beth Israel, Brigham & Women's, Tufts NEMC, and Boston University Medical Center.

Tufts is the easiest to get because they do not require recommendation letters.

There's a million hospitals and clinics in the area. (not really, but you get the point)

I'd look online and start contacting people out there.

Go and try to figure out what the heck is wrong with David Wells.

LoL, Boston is a hospital/medical research mecca. Enjoy. 🙂

Is it possible to get an unpaid research position somewhere in Boston for this summer? Do you know where I could look?

Thanks

Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston. They have a pre-med volunteer program. It's something like 40 or 60 hours at various door locations greeting and directing, and then 80-unlimited hours in a department of your choice as somewhat of a tech-ish volunteer. After you complete the required time, they offer you the opportunity to shadow a physician of your selected specialty, and write you a LOR for your application. They also offer 50% off MBTA passes, and a lunch ticket per 4 hours of volunteer work.

They have volunteer positions open in research labs, as well.

Do you know who I should contact regarding a volunteer position in a research lab? Also do you know what other hospitals in boston offer volunteer research positions?

thanks!
