Hey all - had a GREAT time in Boston - and meeting so many of the sdn-ers!

Shout out to DRUSSO, finally M3, PM&R2008, drvlad2004, staydin, normalforce, lovepark, PAZ, and caedmon!

And congrats to all the sdn-ers who got a position on the RPC!

I was there. It was a good meeting. I think most of us neurorehab-oriented physiatrists liked this meeting better than the Hawaii meeting.

See y'all in San Diego. That is a nice town to have a conference!

I had a great time in Boston as well. Axm397, shout out to you as well. Also, more shout outs to Paz, normalforce, Finally M3, staydin, and so many others that I have met. I can't wait for San Diego. It is my favorite city to visit. It is absolutely gorgeous out there.

I am really glad I got to experience first hand all the hype about the AAPM&R annual assembly 🙂. I was pleasantly surprised at how friendly, approachable and passionate everyone at the convention was. I felt that as a MS4 I would have trouble getting to know people like Dr. Gnatz and Dr. Joel Press but they are both very down to earth and friendly just like the vast majority of physiatrists. I got to attend some excellent lectures, met the top researchers in the field and mingled with some really friendly and helpful residents (axm397 👍 and others 🙂 ). I cant wait to join the PM&R family and I hope to attend the convention every year.

To be honest, I was pretty impressed with the PASSOR lineup this year. Too bad I was a bit under the weather to appreciate Bogduk v. Slipman Saturday morning for the lumbar block talk.

I agree, Boston was great. Good meeting, good food and great history. It was good to meet many of you guys there. I'll look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Sigh, too bad I didn't get to go. I heard my fellow residents and faculty enjoyed the exciting Red Sox game while they were over there.

Here's hoping for San Diego or the year after that!

Next time I have to stay longer than half a day!!
I had a real blast. Boston was beautiful, the workshop was really neat,
and the research exhibition was really great (the only OTHER thing I saw before bolting to my car and returning to Philly).

I spoke with the staff member and the chair of the membership committee about that. Apparently, the Academy staff who prepared the brochure meant "breakfast time" or "breakfast on your own" when she wrote breakfast in that time slot. I pointed out to them that usually, when it says "breakfast", that means breakfast is provided. I told them that there was breakfast in Philly. They are both new to this and didn't know - I'm going to make sure that there is food at future events. Food is KEY in recruiting hungry broke students.😀

The food, in general, was one of the weakest parts of the meeting (inadequate drinks at breaks, and the vendors in the exhibit hall seemed to know nothing about handing out coupons to buy lunch)

The point was raised at the business meeting that the AAPM&R meeting HAS to be at a more handicapped-friendly facilities in future. For those staying at the Marriott, the distances to travel were unacceptable. Dr. Strax, one of the featured speakers and chairman at UMDNJ-JFK, was quite vocal about his unhappiness.

Ours is an organization that advocates for the disabled all year long in our individual practices - the least we can do is practice what we preach when it comes to accessibility at our Annual Assembly

The problem is that the new academy staff members are dealing with arrangements made years ago - and the size of the Academy conference has grown over the years. It is no longer feasible to hold annual assemblies at hotel facilities so now they need to look for convention centers attached to or very close to hotel facilities. There was also an issue with the vendor supplying rental wheel chairs - and that has been addressed as well.

There have been several proposed solutions to the issue - so hopefully future conferences will be even more accessible. Boston in general is an older city and they do not necessarily have the most up-to-date facilities which was also part of the problem.

Late response, I know, just working to hard these days. But I had a blast in Boston; I'm still recovering. amx397 always great chatting & seeing you, and it was really nice to put faces with the screen names.
